Sabarish N.
Private tutor in Edmonton, Canada
Education
I have a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Calgary. Having done my PhD using Drosophila (fruit flies) as a genetic model, I am comfortable in teaching other concepts in biology such as cell biology, molecular biology, biotechnology and am very strong in laboratory techniques and troubleshooting. Prior to my doctoral studies, I earned a Bachelor of Technology in Industrial Biotechnology (with honours). I majored in Cancer Biology, Environmental Engineering, Protein Engineering, Biopharmaceutical Engineering, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, and Genetic Engineering.
Experience
I have experience as a Teaching Assistant for an undergraduate course in Genetics and a graduate course in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. I took a few lectures in these courses and helped students solve course-related problems. I also instructed students about scientific writing and graded their scientific proposal/letter of intent. I also have practical experience in cell culture and in-vivo methods of cancer studies. I have knowledge of a variety of techniques performed in cancer labs to study cell signaling, growth, proliferation, metastasis, and apoptosis. My reason for becoming a tutor is that I myself had a lot of struggles during my undergraduate and graduate studies, and I want to share my knowledge so that others find it easier to go through their own studies.

So I am really interested in this field. Also, I developed/standardized a particular technique called polysome analysis which can be used to estimate the level of translation in cells/organisms.
